Rabbi Flanzraich is a graduate of Bar Ilan University in Tel Aviv and in 1993 received his ordination from Israeli Chief Rabbinate. He received an honourable discharge from the IDF in 1991.
Since 1998, Rabbi Flanzraich has been Senior Rabbi of Beth Sholom Synagogue, a 1000+ family congregation in the midtown Toronto. Over his time with the congregation Beth Sholom Synagogue has become a central point of Jewish life in Toronto, particularly for many young Jewish families who make their home in the surrounding areas.
Rabbi Flanzraich is a past president of the Toronto Board of Rabbis and the Rabbinical Assembly-Ontario Region, is the current chairman for Israel Bonds International Rabbinic cabinet. He is the author of a book on Jewish fundamentalism and is on the teaching faculty of the Zacharias Frankel College in Berlin, Germany. The rabbi devotes time to interfaith dialogue and is a frequent speaker to Christian and Muslim groups.
Despite living in Toronto for 33 years he is an ardent New York Islanders fan. He is married to Lisa and they adore their 4 beautiful children: Cody, Ari, Talia and Joseph. Evan y”h is lovingly remembered by them all.
