Ned Gladstein served as President of United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism from 2019-2022 and has been a member of the USCJ Board of Directors since 2012. During his term as President, USCJ formed strategic partnerships with other centers of energy within the Conservative Movement, in particular with the Rabbinical Assembly. Ned currently serves on the Rabbinical Assembly Committee on Jewish Law and Standards. 

Ned is a member of the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, Chair of the Committee for Religious Leadership Cultivation dealing with “pipeline” issues”, former Chairman of its Committee on Community Engagement and its Rabbinical School Board of Overseers. Ned and his wife Jane sponsor The Gladstein Fellowship in Entrepreneurial Leadership at the JTS Rabbinical School.    

Ned served as Vice-President and Financial Executive of Masorti Olami in the 1980’s and 90’s and continues to be a financial supporter. Jane and Ned have supported projects in various communities around the world, including Prague, London, Kiev, Mendoza, and Ramot Zion in Jerusalem. Jane and Ned have led two Masorti Missions in conjunction with their Fellowship at the JTS Rabbinical School.

Ned is a long-time resident of Caldwell New Jersey where he served as President of Congregation Agudath Israel of West Essex, and on the Board of MetroWest Federation. Ned is a grocer and third-generation owner of Sunrise ShopRite operating supermarkets and liquor stores in Northern New Jersey. Ned served as an Officer and member of the Board of Directors of Wakefern Food Corporation, the largest retailer-owned cooperative in the US. Ned and Jane together have raised three beautiful daughters, Hannah, Dara, and Liza, and are blessed with nine grandchildren.
