Masorti Olami Appoints Tehila Reuben as Interim CEO
June 29th, 2026

Masorti Olami has appointed Tehila Reuben as Interim Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1, 2026.

The following message from President Margo Gold announces the appointment, reflects on Rabbi Mauricio Balter's years of dedicated service, and outlines the organization's leadership transition.

On behalf of the Board of Masorti Olami, the World Council of Synagogues, Inc., we are very pleased to announce that Tehila Reuben will assume the position of Interim Chief Executive Officer, beginning July 1, 2026. In her role as Interim CEO, Tehila will hold full executive authority and responsibility for the leadership, management, and day-to-day operations of Masorti Olami and its global staff. Currently serving as Masorti Olami and MERCAZ Olami’s highly respected Deputy Director, Tehila will build on her experience to ensure continuity and provide strategic leadership across the organization’s global work.

Tehila joined Masorti Olami in 2011, expertly coordinating and managing international initiatives, fundraising campaigns, leadership gatherings and global projects. Tehila was a warrior in leading Masorti Olami’s effort to support Masorti/Conservative communities and refugees in Ukraine, in partnership with the Schechter Institutes. Her professionalism is exemplary, helping to build strong relationships and deepen connections with Masorti communities across continents and the worldwide Masorti movement. Originally from New Jersey, with family roots in Africa, Tehila made Aliyah in 2005 and lives in Jerusalem.

With Rabbi Mauricio Balter’s retirement on June 30, the shared executive leadership arrangement between Masorti Olami and MERCAZ Olami will conclude. Beginning July 1, each organization will be led by its own executive professional. While the leadership structure will change, Masorti Olami and MERCAZ Olami remain deeply committed to working in close partnership together to promote and support Masorti/Conservative Judaism and Jewish pluralism around the world.

As we bid farewell to Rabbi Balter, we express deep gratitude for his years of dedicated service. In recognition of his exemplary leadership, we have established the Masorti Olami Dugma Ishit (‘Role Model’) Campaign, with proceeds supporting leadership development opportunities across our regions. We are proud to welcome Tehila to her new role as Interim CEO and are confident her leadership will continue to be a tremendous asset to Masorti Olami and its future.
