From July 11-14 in Córdoba, Argentina, Marom, the young adult organization of the Masorti/Conservative Global Movement, with the support of MERCAZ Olami and KKL held its first Latitudes seminar for Masorti/Conservative young people in Latin America. The initiative was a partnership between Marom AmLat and the Centro Unión congregation and its Youth group, Mahut.
With the aim of promoting leadership and community exchange and strengthening Latin American Jewish identity and its connection with the State of Israel, the seminar brought together 87 participants aged 24 to 34 from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
The program – built to promote memorable experiences, explore reflections, and promote the active and committed participation of young people in the Jewish community life – included leadership training sessions led by JDC AmLat representatives, special lectures with Marom AmLat Coordinator Eitan Rozenszajn, tree climbing and adventure circuit activities, city tours, and a unique Shabbat experience at the Centro Unión congregation.
Marom Project Manager Daniel Grandisky Lerner shared: “It was very impactful to be at the first Latitudes seminar and see young people from different countries sharing common and engaged challenges to strengthen Jewish and Zionist identity in their communities. May this unity and desire for change spread and strengthen over time".
To close the event, the group attended the Renova Fest party to celebrate their participation in the seminar and share their impressions and reflections on what they learned and experienced.
MERCAZ Olami Director of Organizational Development and Zionist Projects Nilli Glick Asaf shared: "We were delighted to collaborate with Marom and support such a relevant and meaningful project that perfectly aligns with MERCAZ's mission of promoting and strengthening Masorti/Conservative Zionist identity. Such initiatives support and inspire us to continue working to ensure that Masorti/Conservative values influence the policies of Israel's National Institutions”.
