ויֵשׁ תִּקְוָה לְאַחֲרִיתֵךְ נְאֻם יְהוָה וְשָׁבוּ בָנִים לִגְבוּלָם" — יִרְמְיָהוּ ל"א:ט"ז"
“And there is hope for your future, says the Lord, and your children shall come back again to their own border” — Jeremiah 31:17
With hearts full of relief and gratitude, we welcome home Edan Alexander, who was released after being held hostage in Gaza for 584 days.
May his return bring hope and strengthen our unwavering commitment never to abandon those still left behind.
Edan Alexander (21) from Tenafly, New Jersey, was abducted from a military base near the Gaza border on October 7, 2023. Today, he returns to the loving embrace of his parents, Yael and Adi, his siblings Mika and Roy, his grandparents, and many friends in both Israel and the United States.
As we celebrate Edan’s return, we renew our steadfast dedication to the 58 hostages who remain in captivity. We call upon the governments and international leaders to act with urgency and moral clarity to do everything in their power to secure their immediate release.
We hold both a sacred duty and a moral right to bring all of our sisters and brothers home. We continue to pray and advocate for the immediate release and safe return of the remaining hostages still in captivity.
We share a prayer composed with gratitude by Rabbi Nathalie Lastreger on the redemption of captives, in different languages:
