Margo Gold

President, Member of Executive Committee

Margo Gold of Atlanta, Georgia became President of Masorti Olami, the World Council of Conservative/Masorti Synagogues in August, 2023. From 2019 to 2023, she was a VP of Masorti Olami. Margo served as International President of The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism (USCJ) from 2015 through 2018.  In addition, she serves on the Va’ad of the USCJ-founded Fuchsberg Jerusalem Center and is a Delegate of the World Zionist Organization (WZO) Va’ad HaPoel Hatzioni.  Margo was a delegate to the World Zionist Congress in 2015 and 2020.

Margo received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Michigan, and is a respected professional leader and volunteer in an array of nonprofit and communal organizations. She served on the Boards of the Jewish Theological Seminary, the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies, MERCAZ USA, and on the Executive Council of the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations. Margo was President of USCJ Canada from 2015 through 2018.

In Atlanta, Margo served as President of Ahavath Achim Synagogue, President of Congregation B’nai Torah, Vice President of the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta, and on the Board of the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta (JFGA). Other leadership roles included the Board of the American Jewish Committee (Atlanta Chapter), Outreach Chair of the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival, and the Interfaith Children’s Movement of Georgia Board of Directors.

Professionally, Margo most recently served as Managing Director of Hadassah Super South, with responsibility for eleven states within the southeastern geographic area of Hadassah, The Women’s Zionist Organization of America (HWZOA).  Previously, she served as a Founding Board member, and later as Director of Development and Communications, for the Georgia Appleseed Center for Law & Justice, which advocates for justice for underrepresented children and families statewide. Margo also served six years as the Community Relations Committee (CRC) Director of the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, responsible for an array of projects focused on Israel advocacy; government relations (lobbying in Georgia and Washington DC on behalf of Israel, children, the elderly and other vulnerable populations); organized Jewish communal engagement in combatting hunger and promoting reading literacy for young children; staffed the CRC Holocaust Community Coordinating Council; and co-founded the Atlanta-area Save Darfur Coalition.  In addition, Margo was very active in the national Jewish Council for Public Affairs (JCPA).  

Margo worked closely with the Consulate General of Israel to the Southeastern United States in her roles with Hadassah and with the Jewish Federation, including the past six years with Consulate General Anat Sultan-Dadon. Margo has proudly been to Israel at least twenty-two times in both her professional capacities and on personal visits.

Margo has been honored for her dedication to Israel and to the Jewish nonprofit world by Israel Bonds, City of Hope, Ahavath Achim Synagogue and the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta Women’s Division. 

She and her husband, Atlanta attorney Larry Gold, are proud parents and grandparents of David and Emma Dix and their daughters Isabella and Layla (Atlanta); Michael and Mindy Gold and their son, Jackson (Atlanta); and Carolyn and Evan Remer and their children, Daniel and Vivian (Columbus, OH).
