Annual Review 2019
March 1st, 2020

Through the work of Masorti Olami, Jews worldwide connect with Jewish leaders deeply committed to a Judaism that simultaneously embraces tradition and modernity, which demonstrates how well Torah and tolerance can go together.

We are proud to note several new and ongoing endeavors of Masorti Olami that continue to
bring our message to an increasingly larger and receptive audience. In recent months,
we have undertaken a reorganization of our global networks, strengthening our outreach to regions, and establishing an international desk in our Jerusalem office. We have participated in the Shituf seminar in Montevideo and made our first official visit to our Australian communities. It was also very special that we sent a delegation to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Abayudaya Jews of Uganda.

Our global youth movement, NOAM Olami continues to reach new heights in engaging Jewish youth throughout the Masorti world and remains one of our highest priorities, while our partnership with MAROM brings American rabbinical students to spend time in Masorti communities and MAROM chapters across Europe.

Above all else is our commitment to the State of Israel and the well-being of Jews worldwide, those connected with us and those not yet formally part of Masorti Olami, but who stand to benefit from our efforts.

Not being satisfied with coasting on past achievements, we continue to look for ways to improve and to increase our effectiveness in realizing our mission. On that project, the list is the development of new communication strategies and new programs for leadership in Europe and Latin America.

Our staff has been strengthened by new appointments, whose work and dedication continue to amaze and inspire. We are proud to announce the appointment of our longtime staff stalwart, Tehila Reuben, as Deputy Director of Masorti Olami.
Our appreciation to all of our staff, in our Jerusalem and New York offices and worldwide, and our wonderful core of volunteers. Especial thanks to our Immediate Past President Gillian Caplin for her tireless efforts that have enabled us to grow exponentially and to achieve much of the successes of recent years.

With wishes for a fulfilling, joyous, healthy, and peaceful 5780, Rabbi Philip Scheim, President

Rabbi Mauricio Balter, Executive Director
