Abayudaya Pesach Campaign

Pesach reminds us that Jewish life has always flourished through shared responsibility and acts of practical support. This year, that truth feels especially urgent. Scroll down to donate.

As we face an extraordinarily challenging period and Jewish communities everywhere navigate uncertainty, our global Jewish family has a renewed obligation to ensure that every community, no matter where they are, can celebrate our most cherished traditions with dignity.

For the Abayudaya Masorti/Conservative communities of Uganda and Kenya, more than 3,000 Jews spread across 10 villages, support for Pesach isn’t an extra. It is essential. Each year, Masorti Olami helps make these celebrations possible by providing the basic resources needed to observe the holiday.

In Nabugoye, the main village of the Abayudaya community, preparations are already underway for the traditional communal seder, welcoming hundreds of participants of all ages. Similar gatherings will take place across Uganda and Kenya, strengthening Jewish identity, continuity, and connection.

But these celebrations can only happen with assistance. Many families simply cannot access the basic elements required for Pesach.

Kosher wine must be imported at significant cost. Matzah is scarce and often unaffordable. Transporting supplies across long distances and borders adds further strain. Communal seders, the beating heart of Abayudaya Jewish life, depend on these resources.

This year, we are raising funds to provide:

  • Imported kosher wine, otherwise unavailable locally
  • Matzah for every village and for large communal seders
  • Transportation of supplies across remote regions and international borders
  • Food and essential support for communal Pesach celebrations

❱❱ Together, let’s ensure that this Pesach strengthens the bonds of our global Masorti/Conservative family and affirms our shared commitment to sustaining Jewish life everywhere.
