NCI is the only Masorti/Conservative synagogue in Uruguay. Founded in 1936, it has 900 families.
Not only does the NCI have religious activities, it also has many cultural events, is active in outreach to unaffiliated Jews, it has the only conversion course in Uruguay for those who choose to be Jews, has a tradition school for children from 5 to Bar/Bat Mitzvah age, has a Beit HaMidrash Patuach for adults, it has a program (Rashi) for Bnei Mitzvah, where youngsters learn to chant the Torah, Jewish history, Tanach, and liturgy, it has social activities for young, middle aged and elderly people. It is also active in Tzedakah and is active in furthering Mercaz.
